Here’s the Melt-in-Your-Mouth Shortbread recipe🍪
Ingredients (4)
- 1 cup butter, softened
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- ¼ cup cornstarch
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- Optional topping: maraschino cherries or jam
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 170°C / 340°F. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, cream the butter and powdered sugar until light and smooth.
- Mix in the cornstarch until fully combined.
- Gradually add the flour, mixing just until a soft dough forms.
- Transfer dough to a piping bag (or roll into small balls).
- Pipe or shape cookies onto the baking tray.
- Press a small piece of cherry or a drop of jam in the center of each cookie (optional).
- Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the bottoms are lightly golden (tops should stay pale).
- Let cool completely — they will firm up and become tender.
- Don’t overbake; shortbread should stay light in color.
- For extra flavor, add ½ tsp vanilla (optional).
- Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
