Crispy, golden, and irresistibly cheesy—these mozzarella sticks are pure snack-time perfection!
Ingredients
- 12 mozzarella string cheese sticks
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1½ cups Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp Italian seasoning
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Marinara sauce, for dipping
Instructions
- Freeze the cheese: Unwrap the mozzarella sticks and freeze for at least 1–2 hours. This helps prevent the cheese from melting too quickly.
- Set up the coating: Place flour in one bowl. In a second bowl, whisk together eggs and milk. In a third bowl, combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Coat the mozzarella: Dip each frozen cheese stick in flour, then the egg mixture, and finally the breadcrumb mixture. For extra-crispy sticks, repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating once more.
- Freeze again: Place the coated sticks on a tray and freeze for another 30–60 minutes.
- Heat the oil: Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry: Fry the mozzarella sticks in small batches for about 1–2 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy. Don’t overcrowd the pan.
- Drain: Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil.
- Serve: Enjoy immediately with warm marinara sauce for dipping. 🧀🍅
Tip: The secret to perfectly crispy mozzarella sticks is freezing them well before frying. If the cheese starts leaking into the oil, remove them immediately.
